Education is one of AHEPA's core pillars. Chapter 517 supports students through its own scholarship program and connects families with additional District and National opportunities.
Chapter 517 Scholarship
The Greg Ploussas Scholarship Award
Chapter 517's Scholarship Committee was formed in 1996 by Gregory Ploussas, Steve Drogaris, George Katsingris, John Colligas, and Zack Moros. Its bylaws were adopted on March 19, 1997, and the Chapter awarded its first scholarship in May 1997.
The program honors graduating high-school seniors who demonstrate strong academic performance and have been accepted to an accredited four-year college or university.
Initially funded through voluntary contributions from Chapter brothers, the program soon established a dedicated Scholarship Endowment Fund supported by member contributions and proceeds from Chapter fundraising events. The fund was built so scholarship awards could be supported by its investment income, helping ensure that Chapter 517 can continue assisting deserving students for generations to come.
Eligibility
Chapter 517 Scholarship Criteria
Chapter 517 Family
Applicant must be the son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a Chapter 517 member in good standing.
Academic Achievement
Minimum GPA of 3.0. Refer to the current application for any standardized-test requirements.
College Acceptance
Applicant must be a high-school senior accepted to an accredited four-year college or university.

Since the first Chapter 517 scholarship was awarded in 1997, generations of students from our AHEPA and Hellenic communities have been recognized for their academic achievement.

Each year's recipients become part of a scholarship tradition built by Chapter brothers nearly three decades ago and sustained through the Chapter's permanent Scholarship Endowment Fund.
